I reached out around 38 artists — none of whom share my mother tongue, and all of whom I hadn’t been in contact with for over a year — and asked them three questions: What are you doing now? What have you done? What are your plans for the future? Each was asked to respond in their own language. From the replies I received, I selected those I felt able to “translate” — not by translating the words, but by using videos and photos on my phone, made during the time we worked together, to translate my feelings toward them.
